rimson Canary consists of guitarist/vocalist David Chu and vocalist Lonnie
Chu\, known for their vintage music sung in various languages. They also
perform and educate about flamenco music. This year they are joined by tal
ented vocalist and bassist Erik Valdes.
\n
David Chu began his music
career as a teen playing piano and percussion\, but soon switched to guita
r. An accomplished soloist\, he provides accompaniment and is the group’s
arranger and composer. He delights audiences with the variety of genres he
plays on either guitar\, including flamenco\, jazz\, blues\, Brazilian\,
and even Beatles.
\n
Lonnie Chu\, manager and singer\, has also playe
d folk guitar and bluegrass mandolin and enjoys singing in various languag
es and genres. A professor of Spanish by day\, she delights in teaching au
diences how to participate in flamenco’s rhythmic hand-clapping (palmas).<

Erik Valdes is a former attorney turned home-schooling dad and par
t time multi-instrumentalist with a passion for music and languages from a

David Chu began his music career as a teen play
ing piano and percussion\, but soon switched to guitar. An accomplished so
loist\, he provides accompaniment and is the group’s arranger and composer
. He delights audiences with the variety of genres he plays on either guit
ar\, including flamenco\, jazz\, blues\, Brazilian\, and even Beatles.

Lonnie Chu\, manager and sing
er\, has also played folk guitar and bluegrass mandolin and enjoys singing
in various languages and genres. A retired professor of Spanish\, she del
ights in teaching audiences how to participate in flamenco’s rhythmic hand
-clapping (palmas).

Homeslice Puppetry will be here to run this more advanced ve
rsion of a run-of-the-mill Sock Puppet class. This class teaches the basi
cs of creating a puppet character\, all the elements essential for this\,
and how to turn that into a puppet. Then students will learn to build a mo
uth plate and by using this plate as well as some foam for a “skull”\, the
y will give their puppets a much greater range of motion and movement than
an average sock puppet. Students will then proceed to create their chara
cters and build their puppets bringing their socks to life! Ages 7 and up
