Here’s a post from Kelley, who made it to her finish this past Friday — Gulf Shores, AL. She did it!!

So I rode 2487 miles before grocery stops. And there were lots of grocery stops. And so my not so solo bike ride across the US is done. Many thanks!”

Our very own staff member, Kelley Crisp, rode her bicycle across the country, from San Diego to Gulf Shores, Alabama, to help raise money for a new Book Bike delivery service the library plans to offer. The library has received an incredibly generous donation of $6,000 from the Easthampton Foundation of the Florence Savings Bank which will allow us to build a custom bicycle trailer that can safely transport books. That donation will also go towards the purchase of a bicycle with an electric pedal assist.

The funds that Kelley raised will finish paying for the bicycle with electric pedal assist and will go towards purchasing the technology we will need to be able to check books out to patrons while we are on the road with the trailer and if there’s anything left, we’ll use it to purchase books and to build a shed to store our bicycle and trailer in.
