Magical Fireflies with Hands on Nature

Learn about these special nocturnal insects, and the ways they have been used as sources of light in many cultures. Discover the habits and lifestyles of these luminous insects, and learn what makes their ‘cool light’ different from other ‘warm light’. Bring a recycled glass jar, and make a firefly catcher to bring home and enjoy this summer! Recommended for ages 5+. JJK’s SUMMAH READIN ROADTRIP!

Jarrett J. Krosoczka, the acclaimed and amazing creator of the Lunch Lady series, Peanut Butter and Jellyfish, Hey Kiddo, and so much more, is coming to visit our library this summer! He’ll give a presentation on how he became a graphic novelist, how he writes books, and then will answer questions from the audience while he draws! Registration is required.

Community Art Shelves

Help us beautify the Youth Department bookshelves with your art! During this quarterly program, you will have the chance to make something that will then be on display at the library for about three months.
