Our Monday Night Book Club meets monthly (except twice in January and not in December), on the fourth Monday, from 6:30 – 8 PM. Drop-in. We provide copies of each title for participants to check out. In this class, led by artist Lisa Hersey of Antler Editions, we will explore different bookbinding techniques that can be recreated at home. Making a book can be as simple as folding one sheet of paper, or involve 16 pages and sewing! Students will learn how to put content into their books for reproducing editions of their work for themselves or to bring to Press On: Indie Publishing Festival! We will have time to work together and create original books by either decorating the covers, or putting words/drawings onto the pages. Are you interested in art, movies, or just want to try something new? Come to the library to learn all about the art of making storyboards! A storyboard is a series of drawings that visualize what shots will be needed before the crew sets out to film. Instead of a camera, we use pencils, paper, and our imagination to bring the words to life. At this program, you’ll get to learn about filmmaking, get a few drawing tips, and make some storyboards of your very own. No prior experience or skill is required! Storyboarding is about visualizing ideas, not making brilliant works of art, so there is literally zero pressure.
